DESCRIPTION

India Steele is desperate. Her father is dead, her fiancé took her inheritance, and no one will employ her, despite years working for her watchmaker father. Indeed, the other London watchmakers seem frightened of her. Alone, poor, and at the end of her tether, India takes employment with the only person who'll accept her - an enigmatic and mysterious man from America. A man who possesses a strange watch that rejuvenates him when he's ill.

Matthew Glass must find a particular watchmaker, but he won't tell India why any old one won't do. Nor will he tell her what he does back home, and how he can afford to stay in a house in one of London's best streets. So when she reads about an American outlaw known as the Dark Rider arriving in England, she suspects Mr. Glass is the fugitive. When danger comes to their door, she's certain of it. But if she notifies the authorities, she'll find herself unemployed and homeless again - and she will have betrayed the man who saved her life.

With a cast of quirky characters, an intriguing mystery, and a dash of romance, THE WATCHMAKER'S DAUGHTER is the start of a thrilling new historical fantasy series from the author of the bestselling Ministry of Curiosities, Freak House, and Emily Chambers Spirit Medium books.

Reviews
  • Boring

I liked the book for the first few chapters. Then it became insanely boring. It was like the book takes you around in circles and nothing is EVER HAPPENING. Nothing happens. I feel like I read 300 pages of nothing. There was no relationship development, no plot development, I didn’t enjoy it and I found it incredibly hard to finish.

  • The Watchmaker’s Daughter

Well written and conceived story. Likable and believable characters. Absolutely enthralling. I did not want it to end

  • I wish the other books were free!!!

In the beginning I didn’t really it enjoy it much but the love and hate Mr. Glass and India had tempted me to keep reading. I loved this book, but the only reason I don’t rate it 5 stars is because it said I had 100 more pages to read and they were blank. I was very upset that it came to an end so suddenly, but I definitely recommend reading!!

  • Wow this has to be in the top 10 worst books I’ve read

I couldn’t even finish this book. It starts out ok but by a third of the way through it becomes so over the top cheesy I really don’t know how it became as popular as it did. Honestly it’s what I would expect from a 7th grader taking a stab at writing a story for the first time. I tried to finish it I hate leaving books unfinished but at 73% it was just not happening!
