Fire in You

Fire in You

From the # 1 New York Times and International bestselling author, Jennifer L. Armentrout writing as J. Lynn, comes a richly moving story about heartbreak and guilt, second chances and hope. Full of familiar, fan-favorite characters and no two people more deserving of a happy ending, Fire In You will burn bright beyond the last page…

Jillian Lima’s whole world was destroyed in a span of a few hours. The same night her childhood love, Brock ‘the Beast’ Mitchell, broke her heart, her life was irrevocably altered by the hand of a stranger with a gun.  It takes six years to slowly glue together the shattered pieces of her life, but Jillian is finally ready to stop existing in a past full of pain and regret. She takes a job at her father’s martial arts Academy and she’s going out on her first date since a failed relationship that was more yuck than yum. Jillian is determined to start living.

She just never expected Brock to be a part of her life again. But he’s firmly back in her life before she knows it, and not only is he older, he’s impossibly more handsome, more teasing and more everything. And when he sees Jillian, he’s no longer capable of thinking of her as the little girl who was his shadow growing up or the daughter of the man who gave him a second chance at life. He sees the woman who’d always been there for him, the one person who believed in him no matter what.

Brock knows she’s the one he should’ve made his, and what begins as a tentative friendship quickly turns to red-hot chemistry that sparks a flame that burns brighter than lust. Falling for Brock again risks more than heart, because when the sorrow-filled and guilt-ridden past resurfaces, and a web of lies threatens to rip them apart, the fallout could lay waste to everything they’ve fought to build together, and destroy the dreams of those they care most about.

  • Loved it

Fire In You is the sixth book in the Wait For You series and I just loved getting to reenter this amazing world. This book features Brock and Jillian and all I can say is finally they have their own book after being introduced in earlier books in this series. I was just so excited that they finally got their own story and it doesn’t disappoint. I just was drawn into this amazing story and I just didn’t want it to end. I can’t wait to read more wonderful stories from this author.

Love her story telling. Beautiful, captivating, full of life. Characters are well-developed and the relationships are genuine. Thankful for writers like this!

  • I'm Sad It's Over

4.5☆ A wonderful conclusion to The Wait for You Series! I love Brock and Jillian. They're super adorable together. I'm not a huge fan of time jumps, but this one worked for me. Of course I was still anxious to find out what actually happened to Jillian and what caused the distance between her and Brock, but I liked the way their past was weaved into their present. I admire Jillian's strength with moving past everything she has been though, she's a tough girl. Brock has made mistakes in his past, but I loved how he still affects Jillian and how he brings out the fire in her. The storyline was super interesting and I loved watching them rebuild their relationship. The appearances of and updates from all the other characters made me super happy! I loved every little bit of it. The only problem I had was with the short and sudden ending. I'm not a fan of the short, or in this case no, epilogue. JLA is usually really good with that so it made me sad that the last book of the series ends somewhat suddenly. At least I'll be able to read the bonus scenes from all the characters from the preorder incentive soon! Still loved this book and am super sad that this series is over =(

For me, none that have followed have compared to Avery and Cam. Their connection felt authentic and gradual and real and I'll admit I have read "Wait For You" and "Trust in Me" 3 times in the last two years. While "Fire In You" was okay, I found myself trying to like it more than anything. I liked Jillian. And I liked Brock. But that was it. I didn't feel like I was pulling for them or even than I connected to them very much. I didn't cry when Jillian was shot and I didn't feel like enough of that situation was brought to life. Like, what happened to the dude who shot her? Also- the whole Paul situation seemed wasted. I kept waiting for him to attack her or do something creepy (I even considered the possibility that he was, like, the guy who shot her) and it seemed a little unnecessary. Also- she made a comment about how he reminded her of some guy that cornered her in Philly that just kind of flopped there with no explanation. All in all, it was decent. But I didn't love it. And I even skimmed over the sex parts because they were just kind of Eh and gave me an eye roll feeling for some reason.

  • Smoldering chemistry

Jillian’s home was a refuge for Brock Mitchell. A place where he was given a second chance, a place where he found family, a place where he became “Brock, the Beast Mitchell”…a top professional fighter. The day Brock met Jillian’s father changed his life forever. Jillian was Brock’s shadow, always in the wings as the grew into adult hood. Crushing on Brock would have been an understatement, she flat out loved him. One fate-filled night changed it all. Barely surviving a brutal and deadly attack, Brock blames himself for not being there for Jillian while Jillian life was altered forever. Driving them apart, six years is a really long time to avoid each other. Six years later, after much conjoling from her parents, Jillian agrees to come back into the family business, the training gym that was her life before the attack. Little did she know they were thrusting her back into Brock’s path. Smoldering chemistry explodes, when the patient but commanding Brock finally sees what he’s been missing…Jillian! Fire In You is a riveting, heartwarming tale of friendship, love, family and healing. It was a marvelous love story but when you add in Armentrout’s way of connecting characters to her readers, you have a contemporary romance that should not be missed.
