The Allegory of the Cave

The Allegory of the Cave

Plato’s Allegory of the Cave is one of the most elegant and important metaphors in Western philosophy. It is a dialogue between Plato's brother Glaucon and his mentor Socrates, narrated by the latter, in which Plato elucidates his Theory of Forms.

I read this to see the allegory and then it went into a prolonged discourse. Quite the dialogue for such a small allegory. I would say for students it is needed but for others a synopsis will better suited.
