Why do you act the way you do? Do you ever feel like you get stuck in destructive cycles that hold you back from living the life you really want? In a dynamic, compelling and aha-filled journey, Stop Doing That Sh*t helps you connect the dots of your “stuff” all the way from your past to the present. You’ll make sense of yourself as you uncover how to interrupt those destructive cycles of yours and make the kind of profound shift needed to get your life on track.
If you can’t save money, if you keep ending up in the same types of toxic relationships, if you feel unloved, don’t fit in, not enough or any one of the myriad of ways that a human being trashes an otherwise good life, this is the book for you.
Written in the same irreverent, in-your-face style that resonated with the hundreds of thousand of fans who read Unfu*k Yourself, Stop Doing that Sh*t skillfully reveals our deepest subconscious machinery, with a real-world approach to powerfully translate our most negative thoughts and behaviors into a vitalizing, sabotage-free future. “Stop indulging yourself with fantasies and dramas and unresolved issues. Wake the hell up!” Bishop writes.
Look, you might have fu*ked up in the past, so what? Stop Doing That Sh*t reveals how you can break free of those deep-seated patterns to live the life you always knew you wanted but could never quite seem to have. As Bishop says, “The future has arrived. Now what the hell are you going to do about it?”

This book gives a lot to think about but doesn’t help much with how that take action.

This book is exactly what the good doctor ordered! It’s already got me on the right path, I just need to keep reminding myself of the bigger picture and behave according to my future me! Thank you, felt as if you speaking to me.

If you are looking for a quick fix to change your habits or some easy mental trick to improve your self esteem / life... you won’t find it here. This is basically a wake up call to get you out of the idea that you will always be a victim of circumstances and to realize you are responsible for creating your own reality. It’s about doing the hard work of acknowledging and owning your past and the responsibility you have to yourself to do better. It’s definitely inspirational but not in a corny, preachy way, but down to earth and blunt. That being said, I would have liked a few of his more important suggestions for action called out in the layout (similar to the many great quotes highlighted throughout) to give more weigh their importance. I felt sometimes really powerful suggestions for actionable ideas got lost in the middle of a paragraph. Regardless, I suspect I will return to this book and my own many highlighted passages for a long time.

The book had no direction and I felt lost 98% of the time. Couldn’t really grasp where the message was going. At times I felt as if I was reading one of my old composition course papers where I was given the direction to elaborate on every sentence, and meet a certain word limit by trying to add odd comparisons or analogy just to make the required limit. Was really looking forward to this especially since it was one of Apple’s email suggestions. Last time I listen to one of those. To the author take my $11, and buy yourself a latte my friend because you seem very upset.
