Call of the American Wild

Call of the American Wild

“A wild adventure.” —Independent

A man, an axe, and a dog named Fuzzy . . . let the adventure begin! Trapped in a job he hated and up to his neck in debt, Guy Grieve’s life was going nowhere. But with a stroke of luck, his dream of escaping it all to live in the remote Alaskan tundra suddenly came true. Miles from the nearest human being and armed with only the most basic equipment, Guy built a log cabin from scratch and began carving a life for himself through fishing, hunting, and diligently avoiding bears. Packed with adventure, humor, and insight, this is the gripping story of an ordinary man learning the ways of the wild.

  • Awesome adventure

A great story about a winter in Alaska. I couldn’t put it down and made me want to curl up in a mountain cabin next to a roaring fire. Definitely read!

  • Scottish silliness

Ok, the gentleman wouldn’t have survived with all the help from the native community. To get up there by August, when it can be snowing in September was not smart. And to leave his wife behind to care for two small children because he didn’t like his job is selfish.

  • Excellent Adventure

This book is fast paced and tells an excellent story of the journey of an ill equipped man who takes on the Alaskan wilderness and somehow manages to survive. An excellent book that I thoroughly enjoyed.
