Isle of Dogs

Isle of Dogs

Patricia Cornwell’s novels of big-city police have taken this classic genre to a new level. Now, with this #1 New York Times bestselling novel, she outdoes herself, with a wry tale of life and turmoil behind the blue wall.

Chaos breaks loose when the governor of Virginia orders that speed traps be painted on all streets and highways, and warns that speeders will be caught by monitoring aircraft flying overhead. But the eccentric island of Tangier, fourteen miles off the coast of Virginia in Chesapeake Bay, responds by declaring war on its own state. Judy Hammer, newly installed as the superintendent of the Virginia State Police, and Andy Brazil, a state trooper and Hammer’s right hand and confidant, find themselves at their wits’ end as they try to protect the public from the politicians—and vice versa—in this pitch-perfect, darkly comic romp.

Reviews
  • Horrible

Terrible nonsensical story. Worst that I have ever read. Finally abandoned the book halfway through and then deleting it from my collection. Truly truly horrible.

  • Review of Isle of Dogs

I always love Patricia Cornwall but this book fell far short of the mark. Too many story lines that tied together poorly. Sorry, this on was a stinker. A. Fan (of all but this one)

  • Isle of Dogs a dog

I was glad to see a book by P. C. That was supposedly on the lighter side, but this was just too far fetched and idiotic to even finish! A governor that is so ridiculous that he could never have been elected in the first place and never tolerated in the second place. The story is needlessly convoluted so that the characters can have something to 'solve'. A total waste of time and space.

  • Corny for Cornwell

Very creative, story line was good. The talking and typing animals was an interesting twist! Good read for many age groups.
