The Sandman Vol. 1: Preludes & Nocturnes (New Edition)

The Sandman Vol. 1: Preludes & Nocturnes (New Edition)

NEW YORK TIMES bestselling author Neil Gaiman's transcendent series SANDMAN is often hailed as the definitive Vertigo title and one of the finest achievements in graphic storytelling. Gaiman created an unforgettable tale of the forces that existbeyond life and death by weaving ancient mythology, folklore and fairy tales with his own distinct narrative vision. In PRELUDES & NOCTURNES, an occultist attempting to capture Death to bargain for eternal life traps her younger brother Dreaminstead. After his seventy-year imprisonment and eventual escape, Dream, also known as Morpheus, goes on a quest for his lost objects of power. On his arduous journey Morpheus encounters Lucifer, John Constantine, and an all-powerful madman. Thisbook also includes the story "The Sound of Her Wings," which introduces us to the pragmatic and perky goth girl Death. Collects issues #1-8.

Reviews
  • The book of all things

Before I began reading “The Sandman”, I was hesitant and could not find any passion or love of books anymore. After speaking to a true friend one night and seeking her thoughts of many things in life, I shared my feelings of fear and doubts but she managed to amaze me as she always do by recommending Neil Gaiman - The Sandman. This book will always make you swim in a pool of emotions and thought, challenges your imagination and stimulates your brain in an amusing way. I cannot stop praising the visuals and arts as it is done perfectly. Finally when I reached the last page and got the feeling of the Sandman, I was certain how good Neil Gaiman is as a writer and a visionary. It is a journey of soul and mind.

  • Awesome Comic!

You can tell he is highly influenced by Alan Moore's Swamp Thing, which is an awesome thing!

  • Fantastic, in the purest sense of the word.

Great art and a spellbinding story unlike anything you have ever read. An extraordinary literary and artistic achievement. This is my favorite Gaiman work.
