Dance of the Bones

Dance of the Bones

J. P. Beaumont and Brandon Walker, two of New York Times bestselling author J. A. Jance’s most acclaimed series characters, join forces for the first time in one of the most suspenseful works of her career.

Years ago, Amos Warren, a prospector, was gunned down out in the desert and Sheriff Brandon Walker made the arrest in the case. Now, the retired Walker is called in when the alleged killer, John Lassiter, refuses to accept a plea deal that would release him from prison with time served. Lassiter wants Brandon and The Last Chance to find Amos's "real" killer and clear his name.

Sixteen hundred miles to the north in Seattle, J.P. Beaumont is at loose ends after the Special Homicide Investigation Team, affectionately known as S.H.I.T., has been unexpectedly and completely disbanded. When Brandon discovers that there are links between Lassiter’s case and an unsolved case in Seattle, he comes to Beau for help.

Those two cases suddenly become hot when two young boys from the reservation, one of them with close ties to the Walker family, go missing. Can two seasoned cops, working together, decipher the missing pieces in time to keep them alive?

Reviews
  • Not the best . .

Way too many characters, not enough J. P. Beaumont. The book should not be considered a part of the Beaumont Series. Deeply disappointed, gave up at Chapter 6. Wish I could get my money back.

  • Hard to follow and not much Beaumont

I’ve been reading the books in order and the quality had dropped off considerably over the past 3. Dance of the Bones is the worst yet and the last I will purchase.

  • Thoughtful and Beautiful

This fifth installment in the Walker Family series weaves the action story through a narrative of family, love, redemption and hope. Although J. P. Beaumont appears, his role is small—but in keeping with the book’s overall themes as he struggles with the endings and new beginnings in his own life. If you enjoy a well-written story and the author’s well-researched, respectful treatment of Native American culture, you will like this book. If you are a fan of the Walker Family series, this is a welcome return to beloved characters.

  • Dance of the Bones

Having read several J.A. Jance books, I expected much more. I made it through most of Chapter 5 before giving up. If the author wants to write this genre of book, she should read a few Tony Hillerman novels to learn how.

  • Dance of the Bones

Stopped at chapter 5. Too many names and characters to try to keep track of. No real story to get into even by chapter 5.
