Maggie

Maggie

"Maggie: A Girl of the Streets" (1893) was first published by Stephen Crane at his own expense,  as it was refused by all publishers because of its brutal and sexual realism  The story centers on Maggie, a young girl from the slums of New York who is driven to unfortunate circumstances by poverty and solitude.
