Her other books are better than this one.

  • Confusion

Couldn’t get passed the third chapter. He was a little too mean. I am going to read the other books in this series, I love a good sibling series. But yeah whoever wrote this book, ghost writer or Lisa, Devon was a jackass. To the point where I didn’t want to be around him anymore as a reader. There wasn’t anything redeeming in him as a rake. He was just straight up mean 😂

  • Origin stories of multiple characters

I read this book after I finished all the others, which I found superb. Like some other reviewers, I had an issue with both of the main characters. I could not get invested in Kathleen or Devon. Since I read reviews that recommended staring with the second Ravenels book, that’s what I did. Now that I’ve finished all of them, I could overlook my issues with Devon & Kathleen and enjoy coming back to the beginning and seeing all the other characters’ “origin stories.” Like most all of the author’s books, it kept me reading with a strong story line. If you loved the other books and/or want to see how it all began, it’s absolutely good for what it is.

  • What a great beginning!

It’s my second time reading this series so I can already tell you it worth your time. I love it. Lisa Kleypas never disappoints me. I hope you like it too.

  • Lisa Kleypas can, and usually does, do better.

I usually enjoy Lisa Kleypas, but Cold Hearted Rake is the exception. The heroine is a huge disappointment. The attraction anyone feels for her (her sisters in law, her cousin by marriage, and the cold hearted rake himself) is unbelievable. The only thing she does well is train and ride horses, and the rest of the time she is fluttering and shaking, and expounding on all the society rules that “Must Not” be broken. Ugh! Kleypas should have done better, especially for the first book in a series
