The Difficulty of Crossing a Field

The Difficulty of Crossing a Field

One summer morning a planter was sitting with his wife and a child on the veranda. The planter had a big field which was about ten acres. At the time, there was not even a domestic animal in the field. But in another field were at work about a dozen of slaves. The planter saw his mate who wanted to sell him some horses and lazily went towards the seller. After a small chat they parted and the seller remembered important details about the deal. He ordered the coachman to turn back to the planter’s house and so happened that the planter was crossing the field. What happened next? Read the story till the end to know!
