Minor-league hockey player Scott Briggs’ lifelong obsession with making it to the NHL just took a detour to lowly Idaho Falls, Idaho. There, New York realtor Ashley Durieux is devastated by her recent break-up. Her career and relationship were tied together, but how can she commit to a guy who won't even come home with her for Christmas? At a busy gift shop, Scott and Ashley’s accidentally leave with each other’s credit cards. When they meet again, they find out Scott is also boarding with her family for the season. At home, Scott bonds with Ashley and her quirky family, even drinking her grandma’s infamous homemade eggnog, much to his regret. Though Scott’s playing days may be numbered, he shows promise coaching his younger teammates and his coach suggests that’s where his future may lie. Meanwhile, Ashley is roped into helping a friend show local properties to potential buyers. It’s not the cut-throat Manhattan real estate she’s used to, but she starts to understand the allure of helping families find homes, not just places to live. Ashley and Scott get closer, both starting to feel something magical when Scott gets good news, he’s been promoted! He leaves with Ashley’s blessing to follow his dream, only to realize that he’d finally found his dream with her. He heads back to Idaho Falls to start coaching, and Ashley stays to start up a new real estate venture, they live happily ever after.
