Tariffs, DOGE and diet coke: Trump's first 100 days in 100 words

Donald Trump has been back in the Oval Office for just a few months, but for his supporters - and critics - there have been plenty of historic moments to pore over.

Here, Sky News' US correspondents sum up the past 100 days in 100 words... 1.

America First His two-word slogan for prioritising US interests in domestic and foreign policies - emphasising nationalism, economic protectionism, and reduced global intervention. 2.

Fest Trump confirmed he is set for a second state visit to the UK later this year, describing the planned events hosted by the King as a "fest". 3.

Term He says he’s "not joking" about running for a third term, even though it’s constitutionally impossible. 4.

DOGE The newly created Department of Government Efficiency, led by Elon Musk, named after a meme, and focused on cutting excessive government spending. 5.

Protest Americans unhappy with Trump 2.0 have taken to public protest. Many thousands have gathered at demonstrations in cities across the country.

6. Shape He’s gone from 6 feet 2 inches in height and 240 pounds - when charged in New York in 2023 - to 6 feet 3 inches in height and 224 pounds, according to his physician’s report in 2025.

7. Popularity Donald Trump’s popularity at the 100-day mark is 44%, according to a Fox News poll on presidential approval ratings.

Compared with Biden 54%, Obama 62%, and George W Bush 63%. 8.

Taiwan Asked if his policy was that China would never take Taiwan by force, Trump replied: "I never comment on that. I don't comment on it because I don't want to ever put myself in that position." Less than the reassurance the Taiwanese will have wanted.

9. Truth By using his own social media platform, named Truth Social, he engages with audiences directly, shaping his own narrative as truth.

10. Tariff Trump calls it the "most beautiful word in the dictionary".

Media Continuing his crusade against traditional media ("fake news"), the White House has moved to displace long-established outlets with "new media" championing him, rather than holding him accountable. 12.

Eggs Eggs, eggs, eggs… Trump keeps talking about eggs. Prices have spiked over the past year and the president keeps making false claims about how he’s brought costs down.

13. ICE Trump expanded the role of Immigration and Customs Enforcement to enforce stricter immigration policies, including mass deportations, sparking much legal and political debate.

14. Judges He has been critical of judges who ruled against his policies, branding one a "radical left lunatic" and calling for them to be impeached.

15. Climate One of the first moves of his second term was to withdraw from the Paris Climate Agreement - a move he also made in his first term.

16. Gender Trump takes a binary view, recognising only male and female, and has implemented policies to restrict transgender rights and banning transgender people from participation in the military and in sports.

17. Gulf Trump signed an executive order renaming the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America, saying it was to honour 'American greatness'.

18. Golf After busy weeks in DC, Trump has stuck to his Florida weekends, unwinding with 18 holes of golf, with his "frequent victories" even mentioned in his annual medical report.

19. DEI The acronym for diversity, equity and inclusion programmes, designed to widen access to jobs and ensure fair treatment for marginalised groups.

Trump has waged war on DEI practices. 20.

Education Trump dismantled the Department of Education, and has gone to war with some of America’s most prestigious universities. 21.

Cabinet The 21 members of the cabinet fawn over Trump in televised meetings. 22.

Yippy People have "been getting a little yippy". That was the president's stated reason in early April for suddenly calling a pause to his global tariffs.

23. China Trump’s trade war with the superpower has caused huge ramifications across global supply chains.

24. Sharpie Trump’s penchant for his Sharpie pen has become synonymous with his sweeping use of executive orders.

25. Signal The messaging app which hit the headlines when top security officials added a journalist to discussions about air strikes in Yemen.

26. Influencers The White House has opened up its press pool access to include "new media.
