House destroyed after explosion

A house has been destroyed after a reported gas explosion - with three people taken to hospital.

The house in Yate near Bristol was burnt almost completely to the ground after the blast caused a fire on Tuesday morning. Around 40 people have been evacuated from surrounding homes in the area, with a refuge centre set up nearby, Avon and Somerset Police said.

The three people taken to hospital are not believed to have suffered life-threatening injuries. A fourth person was treated by ambulance services at the scene, firefighters said.
